Just a Sunday Afternoon

Betsy (and Porter) have really enjoyed the puzzle book that Meme sent. The puzzles are a bit challenging for Betsy so she goes back and forth with wanting my help or Porter's and wanting to do it on her own. (I think both Porter and I struggle with "helping" verses doing it ourselves. I always forget how fun puzzles are!) I thought I would try to capture Betsy at her new challenge but to my amazement, my drama queen was camera shy!

A little aside on Betsy's dramatic skills...at lunch Porter was trying to name all the dwarfs, and when I offered "Bashful" to round out her list she said, "I know what bashful means. The skunk in Bambie is bashful..." So, we all agreed and thought that the conversation would go back to Snow White. Low and behold Betsy all but brings JAMIE and me to tears as she briefly and tearfully narrates Bambie losing his mommy and daddy. Really...tears welling up. Then, seconds later...she's laughing with a little gleam in her eye that seems to acknowledge that she has taken "her people" down the path she intended, and she was quite pleased with herself.

So...you can see why I was shocked that the filming session didn't go over so well. But she is still pretty darn cute!



I am the oldest of three. I know the true reason parents have more than one child. It's to have little slaves. I have the distinct memory of being elated with being able to FINALLY drive...and then the immediate realization that I was actually the latest chauffeur model to my younger siblings. Little does Porter know it, but we are grooming her for such duties. (evil laugh) Meanwhile, she still thinks these little tasks are fun! hee hee! Seriously, it really is wonderful to see how much Porter can (and wants to) help with Jack. It makes my heart happy. (I actually enjoyed carting my siblings around...most of the time...even though it was in an enormous station wagon.)
