- It took me having my second child to embrace napping. College...3 a.m. to bed, 8/9 a.m. to rise…no naps. First child…sleeping baby during day…busy mom. Second child…please sleep so I can nap, please sleep so I can nap…and this theme continues during weekend nap time to this day!
- I love Pearl Jam and Live to this day but pretty much only listen to Contemporary Christian and the kind of pop that probably makes Eddie Vedder cringe and quickly write a dark and loud song.
- My frog phobia is increased by the fear that one of my sweet little children will bring one into the house at some undetermined point in the future and I can’t keep my reaction in check.
- I had a crush on my husband for 3 years before he had a clue…regardless of the fact that he drove 7 hours to attend a formal with me and tortured me with “sweet” emails for years.
- Prior to my third child, who was breach and born C-section, I had never had an epidural.
- Truth be told, I was only in the hospital 4 hours prior to Porter and 2 hours prior to Betsy being born…hurt like crazy but it didn’t last for days like the sob stories Jamie’s and my mother tell us about our births. Sorry?
- I don’t care if someone pulls up beside me while I’m singing like a rock star in my car. It’s usually praise music and making me really happy so I figure if it makes the other person laugh…then they’re happy too, and that’s pretty cool.
- Truth be told, I don’t mind singing like a fool in front of people in most environments…I love karaoke.
- My husband is amazing and makes me a better person…gosh, if he had waited until NOW to date/marry me, he would be getting an ever better deal. OR…I would be completely psycho, my friends wouldn’t speak to me and well, God had a plan, and as always, though not on my time table, was a really good one.
- I barely function in the morning (you who have lived with me know this…it isn’t better). Jamie wakes me up with coffee pot already going strong. I make a bowl of cereal (always) and a cup of coffee and hope that my children are still sleeping so I can wake-up slowly with whatever Bible Study or passage I’m reading.
- Betsy wakes up prior to 5:45 on a regular basis talking non-stop. I have to try really hard to be a better person than described in #10…luckily, Jamie is a morning person because I fail regularly.
- I have a hard time finding shoes because my feet are so narrow. I can’t wait until business professional is so far gone that we all just wear tennis shoes to work every day!
- My fingers shrink so much when I’m cold (which is often) that I have to move my engagement ring to my right ring finger so it doesn’t twirl around while I type. (And I already have a guard on it to make it fit tighter.)
- Some days, I long to be tan…or to live in another era where lily white is hip.
- I love being a career counselor and helping students…it’s really cool to have a stressed student leave with a look of peace on his/her face.
- I love helping friends with their job search and direction even more.
- I love that I’m painting again but wish I had more talent, time and space to work.
- Though I love the small liberal arts set-up for college with a passion, I have come to love Auburn University…and that darned “Auburn family” I always heard about and thought was bogus.
- I study the Bible harder because of Porter’s early passion for God’s word.
- I work harder to be kind because of Betsy’s example.
- I am more observant because these two precious girls are sneeeeeaky!
- I am in love with my husband all over again because we have a little man who I desperately want to be like his daddy when he grows up.
- Facebook is a dream. I’ve worked hard to stay in touch with friends who weren’t always willing to respond…and now they are right there in front of me…and even more! I love this stuff.
- I’m not sure I know how to use our washer and dryer because my sweet husband does the laundry…pure luxury! (Of course, I’m not sure he knows where the toilet brush is…kidding! That’s why we’re a team!)
- Today (1/12/09), I am healing from cooties attacking my body. Prayers for continued healing are welcomed.
