Driving home from church last week Porter informed me that I was not the most important Mommy in the world. I said, "No? Who is?" "Mary, Mommy. She is Jesus' Mommy," said Porter with some disdain in her voice. I replied with a humble "Yes, that is true. Am I second best Mommy?" After a thoughtful pause, she said, "Yes, you're second most important."
What a blessing Porter's moment of clarity of the focus of this holiday season was...followed by some quirky question about how Santa gets into our house since we don't have a fireplace, I think.
