Jack has Tubes...Strangest Title Yet

First of all, many thanks to Uncle Bo and Aunt Loni for hosting the girls for a sleepover and for preparing them for and taking them to school this morning so we could more easily get to the surgery center by 6:45 this morning.

We arrived to find the very nice volunteers quite willing to assist and direct us. (Jamie has found his retirement calling, by the way.) We waited for a while before going back to the area where they checked Jack's weight (21 lbs), temperature and heart rate. For not having eaten, he was REALLY patient with us.

Then, we waited...and waited...and waited in the back after they checked and documented all of his stats. He did enjoy playing with the mask that would later bring the "happy gas" to put him to sleep. After almost an hour of waiting, the mask wasn't that fun anymore...and he got restless but still really good. I get pretty grumpy when I haven't eaten in three hours, and it was pushing over 13 for Jack at this point.

They did eventually take him back, and I hardly had time to work on my Bible Study before they called us back to talk with the doctor. All went well and after some recovery time, a quick stop by Chick-fil-A for FREE chicken biscuits (there was a sign on 280 announcing this "present" and we took a detour on our way home) this is what Jack looks like.

Just as happy as he can be...we hope all continues to go so well! Thanks to all of you who prayed for his safety, the doctor's wisdom and our peace of mind.

I am glad things went well. The first time my parents took me for tubes, minutes before surgery I walked up to my mom and asked for more gum. "Where'd the gum that I gave you go?" "I swallowed it. Can I have more?"

They were so mad at me but I didn't understand why. Needless to say, when we rescheduled and I went back, there was no gum anywhere around.

Glad to see all went well! The hardest part is always on the parents!! Christopher acted like nothing ever happen when he had tubes and when he had his tear duck surgery. Kids are great!!

So glad to hear how Jack's surgery went. I know you are relieved that it is over. I had tubes in my ears when I was a kid, but so far Ellie hasn't had any ear infections. . .yet. (Keeping fingers crossed).

Your friend Lindsay's comment made me laugh. That totally sounds like something that I would have done!
